Embark on a Culinary Voyage Aboard Royal Thai Navy’s Last Three-Masted Sailing Ship

Bangkok Marriott Marquis Queen’s Park has embarked on an exciting new voyage, with the launch of Sirimahannop, an elegant social experience and event venue on the Chao Phraya River that transports guests back to a rich bygone era of Thai trade and heritage.

A replica of the Royal Thai Navy’s last three-masted sailing ship from the reign of King Rama V (1868-1910), Sirimahannop played an important role in transporting goods between Thailand and Europe. It was also one of six vessels that protected Bangkok from invasion during the Franco-Siamese War in 1893. The captain during the trading era was Hans Niels Andersen, who founded the East Asiatic Trading Company.

Having been immaculately recreated and returned to the company’s former headquarters, Sirimahannop is now ready to welcome guests into a world of innovative mixology and light gastronomy, inspired by Thailand’s maritime past. Permanently docked at Asiatique The Riverfront, the popular lifestyle destination, Sirimahannop is set to become an iconic new landmark that attracts global visitors to the Thai capital’s “River of Kings”.

Sirimahannop can accommodate up to 300 guests across two levels: the Upper Deck and Lower Deck. The Upper Deck is a chic alfresco space where up to 200 people can unwind and soak up views of the river. This is especially striking at sunset, as the city lights reflect off the rippling water. Guests can enjoy epicurean adventures, including handcrafted cocktails, signature drinks and light shared plates that reflect the ship’s historic global trade routes, with a fusion of the finest ingredients from Thailand, Europe and ports-of-call along the journey.

Casual stool seating runs along the starboard side, allowing observers to soak up the hustle and bustle of life on river. DJs spin cool tunes, creating a lively atmosphere, and regular entertainment will also be staged, including live bands, dramatic shows and themed parties.

For refined evenings, The Bridge is an intimate area where small groups of up to six guests can enjoy exquisite set menus. At the captain’s invitation, passengers can open the hatch to a hidden rum bar – an intimate venue where guests can sip a “tot” of spiced rum, inspired by Captain Hans Niels Andersen’s own recipe, paired with a choice of preserved fruit and bitter chocolate.

Descending to the Lower Deck, diners will enter an enchanting indoor zone where up to 100 guests can enjoy glamorous gatherings, talk-of-the-town parties, wedding receptions and more, safely sheltered from the elements. Two private rooms can cater for up to six people each, for truly exclusive occasions.

Sirimahannop is a replica of a Royal Thai navy ship, the last three-masted sailing ship used by The Royal Thai Navy, during the reign of King Rama V (1868-1910).
